Listening Styles

I provide the Listening Style.
What you get from each one is listed below:

● Audience role - eye contact - no verbal responses (does include nonverbal facial feedback)

● Hairdresser role - affirming, supportive, sympathetic

● Devil’s Advocate role - challenge, questioning, heckling

● Combination of roles - for when you aren’t sure what it is you are looking for in a response

● Coach/prompter role - intuitive feedback based on your chosen audience

● Parrot role - one line consistent response (i.e. “I am groot”, “thank you”, “tell me more”, “is there anything else?”)

● Custom Script - like role playing, designed for more specific needs

When Melody listens to me, I experience her full, gentle presence. She is caring and empathetic without enwrapping me in any need or want to fix things on my behalf. She helps me by being a thoughtful mirror who offers spacious metaphor and creative contemplation. And after she’s held space for me, I’ve taken practical steps to adjust the way I relate to my family life, romantic life, and involvement within communities.

“Being in a listening space with Melody has given me a sense that what I say and how I feel is valid.  Her capacity to be present for me is a rare and precious opportunity to experience being seen and understood by another. Melody’s unique brand of listening has helped me believe that it is not a chore or burden to others to hear my stories and truth.”
